On 26 April, the Singapore Navy Ship RSS INTREPID with 150 officers and crew members, arrived in Tien Sa Port to start a four-day official visit to the city. On the same day, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh met with the ship’s senior officers led by Senior Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Neo.
The Vice Chairman highlighted the significance of the visit by Singaporean naval officers and said he hoped that the visit would help strenghthen Viet Nam-Singapore strategic partnership and foster the relations between the naval forces of the two 2 countries, as well as reinforce the solidarity of the ASEAN community and ensure maritime safety and security of the region.
The city leader reported that Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho is participating in the delegation to accompany Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the occasion of his official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He added that, within the framework of this working trip, Da Nang People’s Committee and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on supporting Da Nang to adjust its master urban plan towards 2030, with a vision to 2050.
He emphasised that, with the support of Singaporean consultants, Da Nang will develop more strongly in the years ahead and learn Singapore’s experience in modern urban development and green construction.
In reply, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Neo expressed his delighted at the fine development of the bilateral cooperation with Da Nang in various aspects. The visiting guest added that the on-going visit would play a vital role in promoting naval exchange activities of the two countries as well as will be a good chance for Singaporean naval officers and crew members to learn more about the people and culture in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.
